Overview

Toss or Keep ("we," "our," or "the app") is an AI-powered home inventory management app. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple User ID, display name, and email address (if you choose to share it). This information is used to create your account and sync data across your devices.

Photos

When you take or select photos of items, those images are sent to AI services for analysis. Photos are stored locally on your device and synced via iCloud if you have iCloud enabled. We do not store your photos on our servers.

Inventory Data

Item titles, descriptions, categories, values, and organizational data (rooms, locations, containers) are stored locally on your device using SwiftData and synced via Apple iCloud CloudKit.

Scan Usage

We track the number of AI scans you perform each month to manage free and paid tier limits. This count is stored on our servers (Supabase) linked to your account.

Purchase Information

If you subscribe to Toss or Keep Pro, your subscription status is synced to our servers. Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store payment details.

How We Use Your Information

• AI Item Analysis: Photos are sent to third-party AI services (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, Google Gemini, and Perplexity) to identify items, estimate values, and research market prices. These services process images to generate item information and are not used for advertising or tracking.
• Market Price Lookup: Item descriptions may be sent to eBay's API to find comparable listings and estimate resale value.
• Account Management: Your Apple ID information is used to manage your account, sync scan usage, and manage your subscription.
• Shop Feature: If you publish items to your personal shop, item titles, descriptions, categories, prices, and photos are uploaded to our servers to create a publicly accessible shop page.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Apple iCloud (CloudKit): For syncing inventory data across your Apple devices. Governed by Apple's privacy policy.
• Supabase: For user account data, scan usage tracking, and shop functionality. Data is stored on Supabase's infrastructure (AWS).
• AI Providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Perplexity): For image analysis and item identification. Photos are processed by these services and are subject to their respective privacy policies.
• eBay: For market price lookups. Only item descriptions are sent; no personal information is shared with eBay.

Data Storage and Security

Inventory data is stored locally on your device and synced via iCloud. Account and scan usage data is stored on Supabase (hosted on AWS). All network communication uses HTTPS encryption.

Data Retention and Deletion

Your data is retained as long as you have an account. You can delete your account at any time from the app's Settings screen, which will permanently remove all your data from our servers, including your user record, scan history, and any published shop data. Local data on your device can be removed by deleting the app.

Tracking and Advertising

We do not track you for advertising purposes. We do not use any advertising SDKs or tracking frameworks. We do not sell your data to third parties.

Children's Privacy

Toss or Keep is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes through the app or on this page.
